What we see today with AI and ML is just scratching the surface of what can come, and yet it is so far ahead of anything we knew five years ago. It's almost astounding to think about!
Dan is learning in the AI and ML space like most others. He's had some business experience supporting the data analytics and ML space, and he has been using ChatGPT and some generative AI technologies to both learn and to advance some efforts that he has underway. Read more below.
Dan's whole career has centered around DATA.
From the early days of his career he worked on projects designed to keep data safe and secure from a wide variety of treats and mishaps. Later in his career he helped companies satisfy their application data needs, and he began helping think through challenges that analytics and machine learning bring into the equation beyond traditional captive databases... needs such as scale, resilience, and ease of rapid deployment and tear-down.
He's familiar with hardware and software solutions to storing and delivering data, and he's seen them evolve over time. He's seen automation build and deploy and tear down data repositories in areas where prior to the mid 2010's it was almost exclusively done by people. He's seen applications move from local data processing to hot-failover replicas and even distributed processing models.
If you're looking for a guy that knows data pretty well, Dan probably fits the bill. Nobody knows everything, and Dan doesn't either. Yet Dan has a wide range of experience in the realm of digital data that can benefit your organization.
Dan has for many years helped advise clients with traditional data analytics application needs.... from traditional databases to Hadoop data intake, transformation, processing and storage needs. He's also done some learning in the areas of analytics that apply to machine learning.
Today, the prominence of AI and ML in the technology landscape has reached the "profound" level. It's quite amazing what a couple of years and the introduction of one technology like ChatGPT/Large Language Models and the larger realm of Natural Language Processing can mean in the technology landscape. Honestly, Dan, like most others is just trying to keep up with it. The technology landscape is changing so fast it is astounding.
He's experimented some with machine learning and artificial intelligence. It's actually amazing to him to see what is happening now, because while earning his computer science degrees he learned about neural networks and other things that set the stage for where we are now with machine learning and artificial intelligence... and now we see it actually becoming feasible and useful at a wide scale and with rapid increase in capability!
Lately he's used ChatGPT for generating program code and experimented with generative image processessing.
So what would Dan most like you to know about him in relation to the area of AI/ML?
Dan has always been good at asking questions. While this particular page is about his technology work experience, some of his ministry work experience is going to be given here because it applies equally to the technology landscape...
One area of ministry that Dan has been used by God in is the area of inner healing (and deliverance). That's relevant here because Dan has been gifted at being able to ask the right questions, and in inner healing this typically looks like (knowing the questions to be asked) leading the person through asking the right questions themselves to get to the root of their hurt and find freedom.
Ask an excellent question and you'll get excellent insight... or at least know that you need to dig to find that insight if it isn't readily available. Ask the wrong question, though, and you'll at best get an answer you discard or at worst go down a rabbit hole looking for an answer that will not lead you to the destination you seek.
Dan's great at asking questions.
In the realm of AI/ML, it's increasingly important to be able to frame up the right questions. It always has been, to be honest, but if the interfaces are now moving toward natural language interfaces, then you not only need to be able to ask the right question, but you need to be able to ask it with the right words/language.
Dan is gifted at marrying abstract concepts with language. He's gifted at bridging the language gap between business and technology and consumer.
Need someone to help you ask the right questions?
Dan may be your guy. Whether you need a "question engineer", or simply a consultant to help you ask the right questions that your analysts can chase down Dan may be the blessing you've been looking for.
Dan's really, really good at asking questions that are relevant and get to the heart of a problem. He's good at uncovering the answer.
If you need someone to help you ask the right questions, Dan may just be your guy!
See the discussion about question-asking in the AI & ML section right above this one for more details.
