With knowledge in technology, molecular biology and science, spirituality, and business and with the ability to work with people, Dan is a critical asset to have on your team.
People who know Dan will tell you he is a passionate and compassionate person full of zeal for what is good and zeal against what is bad. He loves people, and one if his greatest joys is seeing people truly impacted in ways that change their lives for good.
Dan is a computer programmer, a product innovator, an evangelist (product evangelist and faith evangelist), a communicator, a creator and media guy and storyteller, a teacher, a problem solver, a leader, a spiritual helper, and much more...
He's a guy who has made plenty of mistakes on the course of life, and he aims to learn from them rather than repeat them.
Intellectually Dan is a deep thinker. His actual first name means "sower", and that meaning aptly describes Dan - who loves to talk of and ponder deep matters. He goes deep when talking with people, and he's vulnerable to let others know him. It is for this reason that one of his areas of ministry is helping people get free of their hurts, pains, and other bondages by helping them spiritually.
One of Dan's former leaders once told him that he's one of those people who can do most anything they set their mind to... meaning that he is not constrained to one discipline, one line of work, etc. but has the capacity to learn and grow and thrive in many different lines of work.
What is the most important thing Dan would have you know about him?
It is that he belongs to Jesus. Every breath he takes is for Jesus Christ, and he does not want it any other way. He wants you to know this to understand that there is no separation between "work" or "play" or "family" and his spirituality - his faith in Jesus Christ. If you're around Dan, don't be surprised if he talks about Jesus and his faith a lot. That's just who he is!
Dan has had a range of experiences in life that have become assets today. First hailing from the great state of Kentucky, Dan gained education in Computer Science and Molecular Biology (B.S., M.S.) at Vanderbilt University in Tennessee and then entered a career in technology working for a global technology company. He married his now ex-wife while in grad school, and then they moved to North Carolina as Dan began his career.
A joyful learner, Dan has done many things well over the course of his journey, and of course he's had some failures from which he has also learned.
Along the way Dan applied himself to computer programming, leading teams, creating technical collateral, product innovation, acting as liason with key accounts, managing accounts and the relationships that come with them, carrying sales quotas, advocating for clients, representing the company, mentoring, and building relationships.
On the spiritual side Dan has become an avid and committed follower of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, and is active in ministry. His journey has included prayer, intercession (prayer on behalf of), prophecy, healing, deliverance, miracles, signs and wonders, and learning to be led by God's Holy Spirit while valuing God's presence deeply. You cannot separate Dan's spiritual faith from his natural life. His natural life is governed by his spiritual faith in Christ Jesus. Spiritual things are in sight at all times for him.
Since early February 2020 - Dan has been on a spiritual journey and took time away from professional work. In late 2023, feeling the leading of Holy Spirit, Dan began to open up to reentering the marketplace after having grown by leaps and bounds and gained much freedom along the way. Since then he has been working in an intercession (prayer) business and the Lord also opened a door for him to join Jessup University's Multnomah Campus as an adjunct professor teaching Management Information Systems (think the intersection of IT and Business) for Fall semester 2024.
Dan has lived at times in Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina, Ohio and Oregon (where he currently resides).
A strong believer that travel broadens his perspective, Dan has visited the U.S.S.R (now Russia and various other states), Denmark, Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Spain, Israel, Mexico, Costa Rica, Japan, South Korea, China, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Kenya, Philippines, and Canada. He's also visited many places within the United States of America.
Aside from Jesus, Dan's greatest passion is people.
He's not an "extrovert" or "introvert". He loves to be around people and he also loves some time alone with Jesus. Yet somewhere on his journey of life and faith, Dan discovered the joy of laying his life down for others. People - their stories and needs - are of great interest to Dan.
With Dan on your team, he'll be like a brother and a friend. Yet he'll also be like a shepherd to those who are in need. He loves to see individual lives changed and impacted, and he gives time, effort, and even at times finances to impact others positively.
Mentoring: Dan also tends to be a man who walks with others for a season to raise them up. Sometimes that season is long, and sometimes it is short depending on the person and need. He doesn't want to hang on to people and hold them back, but to launch them into their destiny. Eventually, though, Dan hopes that person will have been raised up to walk more fully as the gift that God made them to this world.
Dan would not tell you much about his intellect, but know that he has been given one by the grace of God. What motivates him to apply that intellect is purpose... what is the purpose he is working toward?
Having spent many years in the world of "high tech", Dan is familiar with many of the relevant technologies that are used in tech today. He has always enjoyed technology both at the individual and corporate scale, but the technology itself is not what motivates him. He is motivated by the good application of technology - the application that blesses people.
If you have a use case in which technology is applied to truly make the lives of people better, that's something that brings joy to Dan's heart. That's what motivates him to build, create, and apply technology. He's not interested in technology for the technology's sake, but for its use to bless people. (Translated: he's not a tech geek that just wants to consume or build the tech - he's one that wants to do good and use tech for that when possible.)
Dan's experiences range from programming to managing and leading to product innovation to technology architecture (software and hardware) and sales. He's also been peripherally involved with and is interested in data analytics, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and automation.
Dan is also teaching technology for business students at the university level in Fall 2024, as previously mentioned in the Overview above.
Until 2020 Dan had not been involved in media. That all changed in 2020 when, following the Lord's prior call and in the timing of a season of pressing, Dan plunged into the area of media. He's learned about live streaming, managing online conferences and meetings, video editing and publishing, filmography, audio, lighting, story telling, and other things related to media. He has become active in using social media to communicate truth and get messages out.
Dan's passion in media is the truth and communication, not the hands-on work (although he has learned to do that). He's very passionate about justice, about truth, about exposing what is not right and demonstrating what is right. He's passionate about telling of good things using media, and influencing people in positive ways according to his Judeo-Christian values.
Need media help, or messaging help, or a blending of those with technology work?
Dan might be your guy!
Dan's journey in ministry has been one of the past eight or so years as of 2023. He began with prayer (intercessory prayer in terms of ministry) and as his boxes got blown up by God he's still an intercessor first, but also ministers in all of these areas of "spiritual help":
Deliverance
Physical Healing
Inner Healing
Evangelism
Teaching
Discipleship
Preaching
A beloved spiritual dad spoke over him the word "revivalist" a few years ago, and that seems fitting to what's in Dan's heart! He's been pressing into that in various ways, slowly and not-so-slowly as the years have gone by.
Many people and for more than a few years now have been asking Dan, "are you a pastor?"
The answer to that question is "no (sort of)". Dan's answer is usually something like this, "No, I am just a child of God" or "No, I just love and follow Jesus".
Dan is not an ordained pastor or employed by a church and he is currently not serving in any leadership capacity within a church. He does have ministry he sows into and he is called by God to be a type of pastor in the marketplace - though it is not an official title or designation that he uses and it is not something he seeks out. God has, time after time, simply put Dan in situations and around people where a pastoral "shepherding" sort of love is needed.
Where does Dan focus on ministering?
as he goes... meaning anywhere God allows (he opens up the opportunities) - on the streets, in rideshares, in the marketplace, in cafes, online, in church, etc.
international mission trips
social media (YouTube, Facebook primarily)
Do you need someone to serve the spiritual needs of your business, group, etc?
Do you need healing or deliverance?
Do you need help hosting revival meetings, Bible studies, or discipleship?
Do you need intercession?
If God wills, then perhaps Dan can help!
